Get more from the pages
you already have.

Most sites don’t need more content first. They need their own pages to stop competing with each other, and the pages sitting on page two to get finished. These free tools find both.

Content Cannibalization Checker result for our own service pages: groups of pages that compete for the same searches

Why good content stops growing

When traffic flattens on a site with plenty of content, it’s usually one of these.

1

Two pages chase the same search

Google picks one, often the weaker one, and may swap between them. Both rank lower than one strong page would.
2

Pages stuck just off page one

Searches where you sit in positions 8 to 20 are the quickest wins on most sites. A better title, a clearer answer or a few internal links can move them.
3

Titles that don’t earn the click

A page can show up thousands of times a month and get few clicks, because its title and description don’t match what people searched for.
4

No plan for what comes next

New posts get written because a topic sounded good, not because the site had a gap. The blog grows and the traffic doesn’t.

Work through it in this order

  1. Export from Search Console

Download the last 3 months of searches and pages from the Performance report.
  2. Find the pages to work on

Upload it to the Content Refresh Planner. It ranks your pages by the clicks within reach and checks the top ones for what to change.
  3. Find the overlaps

Run the Content Cannibalization Checker. For each group it finds, keep the strongest page, then merge, redirect or rewrite the others.
  4. Then write what’s missing

Once your existing pages are sorted, new content fills real gaps instead of competing with what you have.

Content strategy questions

It’s when 2 or more of your pages target the same search. Google has to choose between them, and it often ranks neither as well as it would rank one page that covers the topic fully.

Usually not. Merge the best parts into the stronger page and redirect the other one to it, so you keep its links and history. Delete only pages with no traffic, no links and nothing worth keeping.

The file doesn’t. The GSC Data Interpreter reads the export in your browser. If you unlock the full plan with your email, only the totals (clicks, views and the like) are sent with it.

3 months is enough for most sites. With only a few hundred clicks a month the patterns are thinner, but the list of pages close to page one is still useful.

Find the pages competing with each other.

Paste your page addresses or titles and see which ones chase the same searches.
